71. All-optical beam collimation by means of dye-doped liquid crystals, H. Ono and T. Morisaki, Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 41 (2002) L361-L363.

Abstract

We present a novel all-optical device for beam collimation using both the large optical nonlinearity and anisotropic refractive indices of the dye-doped liquid crystal. The large nonlinear phase modulation induced an intensity-controllable convex lens in the dye-doped liquid crystal and one laser beam was collimated by controlling the intensity of another beam.
