Abstract

Highly efficient polarization holographic gratings in photoreactive polymer liquid crystal films with azobenzene side groups have been prepared using two orthogonal linearly polarized beams with an off-resonant wavelength and subsequent annealing. The higher order diffracted beams were clearly observed in the diffraction patterns and the diffraction properties including higher order diffraction were well-explained by the diffraction theory.
